Respond to…Describe how nonverbal feedback conveys powerful messages. There are times in life where nonverbal feedback conveys powerful messages.  Nonverbal feedback can be utilized to convey messages to people as strong or stronger than verbal speech can. It’s much harder to use body language to mislead people than it is with spoken words. According to Baack (2017), “Nonverbal communication plays a significant role in one-on-one interactions. Along with spoken words, tone and other nonverbal cues accompany every message transmission. The forms of nonverbal communication include kinesic cues, appearance and dress, artifacts, touch, space, and paralanguage” (Ch.9.1). Nonverbal communication will include nonverbal ques that people may communicate with. First there is body language, which includes the way someone sits, stand, and moves. Second there are facial expressions, these include but are not limited to showing emotion, using the eyes, eyebrows, mouth and any other movement with the face. Third there is posture, the way you carry yourself or present yourself. Fourth there is eye contact, in which people often resort to if they can fully trust or if they can understand someone deeper with this. Fifth there are gestures that you convey with your entire body. Some other forms of nonverbal communication include signs, clothing/appearance, office décor, tone of voice, touch, as well as physical space. When used with verbal communication, nonverbal communication aids in relaying messages that are further understood by an intended receiver. People may be able to enhance their communication with any form of nonverbal communication.Provide an example where nonverbal feedback was used and describe the end result. There are times I use nonverbal feedback with my family. The example, which I will give is that there are times when I can be in a room full of people with my family and not want what I say heard. We have the ability to look at each other to understand what we are trying to say based on the situation. Sometimes this means that I will look at my wife and do a head nod to step away from the situation or whatever and she knows to follow me shortly after and come find me so that I can talk to her. This is mainly done by facial expressions between us.ReferenceBaack, D. (2017). Organizational behavior (2nd ed.). Retrieved from https://ashford.content.edu
