Policy making plays a major role in every country as it impacts on all citizens of a country. Information and communication technology is making a huge impact on all policies that policy makers make in tweets first century. These days all citizens are used to social networking, internet and blogs and they are making comments and expressing their view on every aspect that is happening worldwide. This data is very important for policy makers because if there is an issue that occurred in a country can be rectified by making a new policy which can solve the issue of citizens. Large businesses are playing a major role in every policy that government is making now a days. All government offices are controlled by lobbyists who are acting as intermediate person in-between politicians and businessmen. These lobbyists are influencing policy makers to make policies so that it will profit businessmen. In lifecycle of policy making, politicians will influence policy makers and experts to make policies as requested by lobbyists, and administrative organization need to implement these policies no matter it befits people or not. In this generation, technology is making a huge impact on policy making. Every policy made by policy maker is accessed by all citizens and that will help citizens to understand if government is working in their favor or not. Social media helps citizens to express their views on the policies made and discuss if it is helping people or not. There are meant developments discussed in the book, but I would like to discuss about the availability of big and open linked data. Open data published by governments helps them to make policies in future because of open data, citizens will have access to all data that policy makers have and there will be immediate response from people if it is helping them or not. I would like to discuss about right to information policy that took place in 2005 in India. Before 2005, no one have authority to access any type of confidential information in government and this is a huge problem in India. Policy makers are making policy, but citizens don’t have access to confidential information. Every time there is some scandal took place in a government office, there is no information to citizens about what happened. All citizens started discussing in social media about all the rumors that happened in government office. In later years, government gathered all this data and concluded that many citizens are expecting to know what is going on in all government offices. Policy makers used data to study what is good policy to make so that all citizens can know all the information. They came up with Right to Information act which helped people to question all citizens if any scandal took place. They can know information on all policies that policy makers are making which helped politicians to make better policies. References: https://www.rug.nl/about-us/who-are-we/sustainability/greenoffice/cursus/myth3/policypracticeanddigitalscience.pdf https://rti.gov.in/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lobbying_in_the_United_States
